Bert's prior practice was as a trial attorney for the U.S. Treasury Department and as a partner in the law firm of Hirschtritt, Hirschtritt, Gold, Mardell and Kahn and the law firm of Mardell and Kahn--both firms located in Chicago and specializing in the field of taxation. Most recently Bert practiced in Skokie as the senior partner of Bert L. Kahn, Ltd. Bert remains active in charitable organizations having previously served in the following positions: as national co-president, Religious Zionists of America; president, Congregation Kesser Maariv; chairman, North Suburban subcommittee Lawyers Division of the Jewish United Fund; chairman, Ida Crown Jewish Academy Endowment Group; and member, Board of Directors Arie Crown Hebrew Day School. Bert is a First Lieutenant, U.S. Army Reserves Retired and enjoys jogging and white water rafting. |
Bert L. Kahn, is Of Counsel to the firm, practicing from its Skokie office in the areas of taxation, estate planning and tax controversies. He received his BBA and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Wisconsin and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Wisconsin. Bert is admitted to practice before the bars of Illinois, Wisconsin, the U.S. Tax Court and other Federal courts, is a member of the Tax Committees of the American Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association and was formerly on the faculty of John Marshall Law School.
